What We Did Over Summer Break

When the school bell rang for that last time in May, many of our members had a drastic change in their routine.  Some went from maintaining a consistent CrossFit schedule (getting up at 5 am and now sleeping in) to being home during the day with the kids and simply wanting to enjoy the outdoors.  Much in the same way our kids approach summer school work, we start out with the best intentions but the summer takes over, and we inevitably start to slide. One missed workout leads to another and before you know it, August is upon us.

Lucky for us the very definition of CrossFit is constantly varied, functional fitness.  Our members really took this to heart over the summer and modified their fitness routines to fit within their lives and schedules. After all, what's wrong with a little crab walk and jump rope with your kids?   Our members also took advantage of new opportunities, too. Whether they were traveling and dropped into a box while away or did a mini WOD on the beach, their passion for CrossFit was there.

While we reflect on yet another summer that passed all too quickly, let's harken back to our days as youngsters when we had to pen the classic "what I did on summer vacation essay."As the last days of summer vacation draw near, we've highlighted what our members did on their summer vacations.

Many were reminded through their travels why CrossFit is the most supportive and encouraging community in the world. With more than 5,000 CrossFit boxes around the world, our members found the way to some great ones in the United States and Puerto Rico.

When members couldn't get to a box, they took to the streets for a run and we can't think of a  better way to explore a new city or destination.

Our members also tackled new adventures like paddle boarding, yoga, horseback riding and rock climbing while getting exercise and enjoying these activities with their families.

In the end, our members learned that CorssFit is not confined to the walls of our box, but rather extends to everyday life.  So, get on that bike with the kids!  Revert back to the days of the playground where hours of physical activity occured without a single piece of equipment.

And if the summer slide impacted your workouts, no worries.  Just handle it like back to school.  Get back to your routine and take it one day at a time.  Use those first few weeks back as a review; much in the same way your kids do with math facts.  Trust us, it is like riding a bike.  The snatches, KB swings, box jumps and burpees - it will all come back to you!
